Hi girls! 💖 Hellen here.
If there’s one thing I absolutely love about African and Boho fashion, it’s the audacity. Seeing large, geometric, beaded earrings is, to me, the definition of strength and pride! ✨
But I get it—if you’re transitioning from small studs to oversized pieces (like the ones in our collection!), it can feel like a huge leap. Are you afraid of looking "too busy" or "overdone"?
Forget the fear! It's just a matter of balance. Here is my simple guide on how to wear Statement Earrings and feel absolutely confident in them.
Rule 1: One King, One Crown (The Focus Rule) 👑
This is my golden rule: If your earrings are dominant, mute the rest of your jewelry.
-
⚡ The Earrings: Large hoops, layered beads, tassels... anything that speaks LOUDLY.
-
📏 The Rest: Skip the chunky necklaces. Instead, opt for no necklace at all, or just one thin, delicate layer (a layering chain). Keep rings and bracelets subtle.
-
Why it works: The viewer's eyes know where to look—straight at your face and the gorgeous pieces framing it.
Rule 2: Mind Your Necklines and Collars 👗
What you wear is your canvas.
-
Statement Earring Best Friends: Turtlenecks, boat necklines, or shirts buttoned all the way up. Why? Because they create a clean, unified line that provides perfect contrast for the earrings.
-
What Works, But Be Cautious: A simple crew-neck tee or a deep V-neck. This draws attention away from the chest and focuses it upwards.
-
What Might Not Work: Too many ruffles, a busy patterned boho top and huge earrings. It often looks too distracting.
Rule 3: Hair as Your Frame 🖼️
Your hair can either show off the earrings or hide them—both are OK, but they create a different effect!
-
Show-off Mode: A high bun, an elegant ponytail, or hair tucked behind the ears. The earrings become the main focal point of your look.
-
Mysterious Vibe: Leave your hair down and loose! The earrings will subtly appear and disappear, giving your entire look a light, Bohemian shimmer.
Rule 4: The Colour of Silence (Neutralize the Noise) 🤫
If you dare to wear beaded earrings in multiple vibrant African colours, the rest of your outfit should be monochromatic (single colour) or in neutral tones.
-
Example: Massive red, yellow, and blue beaded earrings look absolutely stunning with a simple white dress, a black turtleneck, or a denim shirt.
-
Result: The earrings pop, but you look perfectly coordinated, not overdone.
My Personal Tip: Confidence is the Best Accessory! ✨
In Kenya, we are taught to wear colours and statement pieces with pride. And that is the key: Wear them; don't let them wear you. If you feel strong and authentic in them, don't worry about the rest. Trust me, that energy will just radiate from you.
So go ahead! Dive into our earrings collection and show the world how you glow.
