Hi girls! 💖 Hellen here.

As my husband and I prepare to move soon from Kisumu to the Austrian mountains, the topic of home and tranquility is particularly relevant for me. At home, we want to feel safe, calm, and inspired, whether we are by Lake Victoria or in the Alps.

That’s why I created the Sacred Calm Spaces collection. It's not about having an empty, sterile room, but about creating a "sacred calm space"—a place where the mind stops and the soul connects with itself and with beautiful memories. ✨

How do you achieve this? It’s simpler than you think! Just focus on these three pillars:

1. The Texture Play (The Feeling of Home) 🌿

In African and Boho cultures, textures are like tactile memories. Smooth, rough, woven, knitted—they all have their place.

  • ⚡ Invest in Textiles: Pillows and throws are the quickest way to change a room's vibe. Choose our African-patterned pillows or those with robust Bohemian tassels. The goal is to make you want to touch the pillow and sink into the blanket.

  • 📏 Natural Materials: Focus on linen, jute, cotton, and wool in neutral colours (cream, beige, terracotta). These colours and materials act as quiet "supporting voices" for your bolder accessories.

  • No Clutter, Just Meaning: In African culture, every piece carries weight and history. Choose one Statement Wall Art piece (like our Pop Art Canvas) to serve as the room's focal point, or select a single sculpture from our Artistic Sculptures collection. These accents possess immense visual energy; they create a point of stillness for the eye and serve as a quiet reminder of your journey and beliefs.

2. Colours of Calm and Earth (The Palette) 🎨

Sacred Calm doesn't just mean white. It means colours that come from the Earth.

  • The Base: White, cream, or light grey as the background.

  • Accents from Kenya: Use deep earthy tones—rich terracotta, soft olive green, burnt orange, or warm brown. These colours are grounding and immediately bring a sense of stability and warmth.

  • Hellen’s Tip: Let one large piece of Wall Canvas Art with an African motif be the sole source of bright colour. Everything else will quietly complement it.

3. Intentional Accents (Stories in Stillness) 🗿

Every piece in a Sacred Calm Space should have a reason for being there. No clutter, just items with soul.

  • Sculptures: Add one figurine or sculpture (from our Artistic Sculptures collection). Sculptures carry enormous visual "weight" and energy. They serve as a reminder of something deeper—history, belief, or your journey.

  • Scent: Calmness goes hand-in-hand with the senses. Light a natural candle with woody or earthy notes. Scent is the fastest path to relaxation.

  • Personal Corner: Designate one spot for relaxation or meditation. It could be an armchair with an extra soft pillow, next to a beautiful, hand-woven lamp.

Conclusion: Calm is a Path to Self 💖

Creating a Sacred Calm Space is not a one-time task, but a journey to yourself. Choose pieces that resonate with you, that tell your story, and that bring a warm, cultural soul into your home.

I wish you much peace and warmth!
